Woodworking Basics: Mastering the Essentials of Craftsmanship

I found it difficult to find a book with practical exercises based on hand skills in an organized manner. I think many are self taught woodworker peaks and valleys of abilities by the nature of “carpenter solo learning (project plans and fragmented journal article). Sometimes my inefficient methods took more time and wastes more wood than I want to admit.
This book is based on a course taught at a school under the direction of the author. Although I am sure that the living, of course, would be vastly superior, I think this book is an excellent guide. I do not want to happen if you completely self-taught with years of experience and / or successful projects under your belt. This is a great reinforcement tutorial. If I could have done everything, yet once I started the course or who have bought this book.

After my way through tangled around 6 years as a carpenter hobby, I would have first found this book. It provides excellent instruction on the basics of woodworking, but also shamelessly recommend surprisingly low, but high quality tools you need to produce beautiful furniture. Did I read that first book would not be literally hundreds of dollars in tools more or less confusing my shop today!
Is that the book you will learn to hand and machine cut more wood with the story of step-by-step and clear and colorful images. Not only the book will start a carpenter, but the challenge of taking a skilled craftsman for his work to the next level.
I just had the pleasure, Peter Korn-class in his school in Maine, and was surprised to see how closely it follows this statement surprising. Although no book can substitute for the interactivity of a two-week course, is actually in the process of completion of each project in this book is also the time and resources are spent. Even experienced carpenters lose their time to get back to basics and refine their techniques and execution.
I recommend this book highly.

This book is essentially a collection of projects, and then explain the various techniques used for each step. Well, if you want to make a bedside table, but not as useful as a whole. A better book to learn the various techniques of woodworking is the complete manual of woodworking by Albert Jackson, et al. al. Then, all of this (not much better explained and illustrated) contains, and much more.

Although I am sure it was not Mr. Korn had the intention to transform the work myself from a “standard”-itis “to” Neanderthals “Schreiner. Mr. Korn has instructions for the parallel use of power and hand tools, and that makes the difference. I realized that I could do real woodworking machines without having to invest thousands of dollars in a safe, dangerous, impersonal machine. After reading this book, I passed easily in the hand using planes, chisels and water stones instead of a Ryobi jointers, planers, table saws and routers. Although I am not a mechanic or by any other means, I just “enjoy” more wood than I ever.
I do not know how much I depend on Mr. increased grain book until I lost the damn thing in the middle by training. Yes, it is a course, not a reference book. He teaches gradually with each lesson building on the stand. What makes them so irresistible. Taken with patience you can master tasks that seem impossible to workworking. Highly recommended.

great background and a thorough introduction to the skills and techniques necessary to become a qualified carpenter. Nothing too complex or extraordinary, but I gained great satisfaction and confidence through exercises and practice.
They say the practice is not too perfect, perfect practice that makes PERFECT. So does this book – a comprehensive guide to practice this perfectly beautiful cut gaskets. In five attempts, I cut away without 8.1 “route is nothing more than Dozuki a scroll saw and a chisel. To say that I am happy is an understatement terrible.
> The book is written clearly and in a friendly, accessible tone. It focuses on a few techniques rather than overwhelming the reader with each
; carpenter. I enjoyed this book great. If you cut a carpenter beginning with the skill and precision of hand really excellent fascinated Carpenter did you a favor and take that. Then diligently practicing the techniques Thay are ready for you … you are more than satisfied with the results.
