    What you are using is a SPINDLE MOULDER, a Shaper is a reciprocating metal working machine.

    @mithrandir10001 Also with a shaper you can take apart blades and mess with them I have even seen people stack blades you can’t do that on a router.

    This is known as a “spindle moulder” here in UK. Yours is rather a small one. We also have Pedal operated overhead routing machines, which are heavy duty and can take cutters the size you are using.

    Basically, are you’re saying that the real difference is one of scale, not function? My router table performs the same operation as the one demonstrated, but on a smaller scale. Like comparing a portable contractors saw to a 10 hp cabinet saw.
